3D Modelling Research
Characters

Professor Layton (Miracle Mask/Asran Legacy/Layton Mystery Journey) uses 3D models of the characters during speech sections or certain cutscenes of the game. These models have their own poses, gestures, and lip sync animations that play out according to their lines or personality

The company Compare the Market uses a 3D meerkat group for their TV adverts, and even has them for their mascots

The kid's film Toy Story uses 3D modelled/animated characters throughout the film, to give them the look of toys and fictional creatures. They even use it to make the human characters look as diverse as possible
Props

In their music video Saturnz Barz, the Gorillaz drive a car that is made via 3D modelling (as the band and world are both virtual). The car's made to look as realistic as possible to blend in with the semi-realistic world around it, and to make the characters stick out as much as possible

In the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a lot of the larger or more complex props were rendered or added in with 3D modelling, such as S.H.I.E.L.D's aircrafts or Captain America's shield in more complex scenes
Environments

In the children's TV series Sonic Boom, the environments are all made based off of the game series under the same title (which is primarily 3D). These match the characters, props, and the games in certain areas, but there are also certain areas that are exclusive to the cartoon version

The Pokemon series has been using 3D environments in their games since 2013 (X+Y versions), which are all made for/enhanced on their 3DS systems. Their specially designed to help the characters and props blend in, but are also heavily influenced by the real world with their colours and textures
Where Is Maya Used?

Maya Testing/Practise
1 - I tried making a spaceship, Starfox 64 style ( I followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzzmAd0QIW8 for this)

2 - I think it worked

3 - A failed attempt at recreating Green Hill Zone freehand
